About Pesky Pests
School Outreach Program
Pesky Pests is a science based education program for Foundation to Year 6, that focuses on environmental sustainability and incorporates activities linked to the Australian Curriculum.
The program highlights the difference between native and introduced animals and plants of the Peel Harvey region and endeavours to develop an awareness of declared pests among local schools. Through this program we hope to establish a more sustainable future for our native flora and fauna, as well as for the primary producers of the region.
This is a unique opportunity for teachers and students to work in collaboration with Peel Harvey Biosecurity Group and become part of this local education initiative to discover what is really living around us.
Our Pesky Pests mascot, Professor Bandi, will regularly appear to provide interesting facts throughout this program. We have chosen a Southern Brown Bandicoot, also known as a quenda, because it is a common native animal in our area.
All our services are provided FREE OF CHARGE for educators in the Peel Harvey region.
